And that’s not all I want to say. I switched my Instagram handle back to a long-term username (marko.pdx) before I tried to get all brand-y in the last year or two. I’m just not focused enough to create a brand. If one thing is consistent about me, it is that I’m inconsistent.
READING UPDATE
I picked back up with A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, by James Joyce. I set it aside while I was reading A.I. Snake Oil. I wanted to finish that book before all the information was outdated in a fast-changing technology environment. I decided on a new approach for Portrait and the other classics I’m buying from Easton Press.
A lot of these novels were published in serial form. Even those that weren’t were not read cover-to-cover over the course of a week or two. Reading habits were different then, so I decided I will approach them in chunks once or twice a week. I’m going to serialize them, if you will.
That being said, I will read modern books faster. For example, I started Murder in Galway last night, and plan to read it faster, in between the classic chunks. Mmm…chunky cereal. But I’m not in a race to get a high book count each month to make people think I’m a serious reader. I don’t see the fun in that.
