It was another slow week in regards to writing. As this is a hobby, I figure it will have ebbs and flows. I’m may stop writing The Thursday Dispatch and just send every post out as an email, especially now that I in a writing lull. I would like all three of you, dear readers, to vote below.

News blurbs

  • I received my monthly book from Easton Press. This month I got Cyrano de Bergerac. It looks like it will be a quick read.
  • Speaking of Easton Press, I also received my set of John Steinbeck books. The Grapes of Wrath is my favorite book, and Cannery Row is pretty high on my list. I know we read Of Mice and Men in junior high or high school. I don’t remember much about it. I was all about British mystery novels back then.
  • And speaking of reading, a work colleague mentioned a book yesterday, so I stopped and picked it up at Barnes & Noble. AI Snake Oil: What Artificial Intelligence Can Do, What It Can’t, and How to Tell the Difference, and it sounds fascinating. Plus, I love AI—as long as it doesn’t take my job.
  • I am watching Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries on AcornTV. It’s a good series from Australia that aired about ten years ago. I call Phryne Fisher, the main character, the “unflappable flapper.”
  • Finally, if you haven’t read my post about Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid that Sparked the Civil War, read it here.
