SCREEN: ‘Adolescence’

I am doing a piece on the amazing Netflix UK limited series Adolescence. What does it have in common with a classic French film from 1959?

PAGE: The Dead are Arising

I have two or three chapters left in this winner of the National Book Award for Nonfiction and the Pulitzer Prize for Biography. I will mainly focus on what more I learned from this that was not in The Autobiography of Malcolm X.

NEW AREA OF PERSONAL STUDIES

Classified staff received an email from the Integrative Healthcare program at the college that said we could use our tuition waiver for the class Holistic Herbalism. My reaction: Why not? I had a mild interest in it in the past, but never pursued it. Here was an opportunity.

I was a little worried that it would be a lot of nonsense. “Chew on this root when the moon is rising through the house of whatever” kind of stuff, but now that we have access to the introductory class material, it looks like it is going to be an interesting class. I have a lot to learn about plant biology, chemistry, phisiology, and for course, preparation techniques. It looks promising.
