Still not moved

The move date is still not here! It’s so close! Only three days. I’ve reached the point where I just have the stuff to throw in a box at the last minute. Basic kitchen stuff. A handful of books I’ve been too tired to read in the meantime. Really, that’s about it. My desk lamp. My Google display. I don’t know. I feel like it’s done.

To be honest, there are so many boxes in this house that I wonder what we’ll see lying around once the movers have carried all those out. Will there be things hiding in among them and behind? I am willing to guarantee it.

Well, I just sat here spaced out staring at the screen for a few minutes. It is 6:30 p.m. and I’m thinking about just putting some music one and lying in the dark until I fall asleep. I don’t think it will be long. I’m sorry if this short, aimless newsletter disappoints.

Uh, let’s see…

I’m considering breaking my newsletter into several smaller installments during the week. What are your thoughts on that? COMMENT below.

PAGE & SCREEN

I’ve been more keen to stare at the television this week than read. Here are a few things to update you with.

Finished: “Grimm”

I finished all six seasons of “Grimm” a few nights back. I really didn’t think I could watch past the first episode, but I told myself to try a few more. I decided it was good enough to watch. What’s funny is that I told my friend Angie about it, and that it was filmed here in Portland where I live. I told her to stick with it past the first few episodes. At some point she flew past me and was watching at a pace I couldn’t keep up with.

Overall, I liked the show, but the novelty of seeing my city on the screen was the best part of it. They had a long story arc with Royals and a Resistance that I thought was stupid, but it seemed to be the series-long arc they planned from the start.

SPOILERS BELOW

The way they ended the Royals vs. Resistance has to. be one of the dumbest things I’ve seen in television. They kick off the sixth season and start a new long-term story arc that turns out to be a parallel-universe, demigorgon-type of story. A character from the other series story arc shows up, and someone says, “What about the Nazi monster movement,” and she says, “Oh, yeah. That. We killed ‘em all. You don’t need to worry about that.” Her response is almost verbatim.

My thought on the parallel universe story line is that they should have introduced it in season five and carried it to the end of six. I think it would have been more interesting to explore that, but I love a good parallel universe.

Final Thought

Again, I apologize for a half-assed effort this week. I know I will be really tired on the other end of this move, but I think it will be easier to focus on this once it’s done.

Cheers!
